Good things are growing in the shade
Since 1996, we’ve sourced our yerba mate in partnership with Indigenous peoples, family farmers, and local communities in Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
Our yerba mate is shade-grown and the first Gold Regenerative Organic Certified® and Fair for Life certified yerba mate in the world. Â

How much caffeine is in each serving?
Just like coffee and tea, the caffeine levels in yerba mate vary naturally and can vary by brewing method. When prepared, each 1.5 tsp serving of yerba mate contains about 30 mg caffeine.
Is 8oz enough to pack a gourd?
Depending on your gourd packing, the 8oz package of loose leaf includes about 75 1.5tsp servings – enough to pack more than one gourd but the exact number of gourds will vary by person.
WHAT IS GOLD REGENERATIVE ORGANIC CERTIFIED®?
Regenerative Organic Certified® is a certification program that recognizes agricultural practices that go beyond organic farming to promote the health and regeneration of ecosystems, communities, and soil. It was developed by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) to create a higher standard of agriculture that addresses environmental, social, and animal welfare concerns in a more comprehensive way than traditional organic farming.Â
The program has 3 levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold.
Gold represents the highest achievable level in regenerative organic production demonstrating 100% commitment of the operation to the standard. We know many conscious consumers look closely at certifications when making purchasing decisions.
You can feel confident in Yerba Madre knowing we have the highest level of certifications. Â
WHY IS SHADE GROWN YERBA MATE BETTER?
Sun grown yerba mate contributes to monocropping and deforestation vs. shade-grown systems where yerba mate is grown under the canopy of native forest remnants or under restoration agroforestry systems.Â
All Yerba Madre mate comes from our Shade-grown Verification Program promoting the conservation and restoration of the Atlantic Forest.Â
